Dr Terrence Ong is an ophthalmologist who specialises in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the anterior segment of the eye including cataract surgery, corneal transplants, laser refractive surgery and pterygium surgery.
Cataract is a common eye condition. This is due to the internal lens of the eye getting cloudy with age. Eventually the cataract may progress to a stage where it causes blurred vision, and surgery may be required to restore sight.
Dr Ong has expertise in many forms of corneal transplantation including full thickness corneal transplant, and partial thickness corneal transplants (DALK, DSAEK and DMEK).
Dr Ong customises each treatment to the individual as no two patients have the same visual needs. He will discuss in detail the advantages and disadvantages of the available techniques, and will focus on the most appropriate one for each patient.
Ptosis of the eyelid is generally caused by stretching of the upper lid muscle and less commonly ptosis can be caused with neurological or muscular disorders. Patients affected by ptosis have droopy eyelids and experience difficulty keeping the eyes open.
